Nairobi, July 28, 2018- A team drawn from Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Madagascar, Benin, Cameroon, Burundi and Somalia, and joined by development partners including European Union, The Swiss Agency, Denmark, Italy amongst others met in Nairobi this week under the auspices of the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA), to discuss the Country Results Framework (CRF).
CRF is a pillar of the Global Partnership Initiative (GPI) whose aim is to “Enhance the Use of Country Results Frameworks” for Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC). This aligns a country’s development partner support with national development priorities.
By design, the Country Results Frameworks (CRFs) articulates the required and expected national level results. Hence, their effective use can help ensure that both domestic and external resources are committed towards agreed national priorities. The ultimate success of CRFs largely depend on country leadership through mechanisms aimed at integrating accountability for results in all country level development processes, with potential to link with both AU Agenda 2063 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
During this meeting where focus was on understanding how countries had mainstreamed their results framework with the national development plans, Kenya made a presentation on its Development Plan; the Medium Term Plan 3 (MTP 3). The country seeks to undertake a study on the percentage the SDGs have been incorporated in the MTP 3. Kenya is set to give an update report on SDGs implementation in 2019.
