Kenya’s Targeted Review of the Big Four Agenda kicked off on 6th December 2021 in Narok, Lamu and Uasin Gishu counties.

The review which is undertaken by three teams comprising of officers from the APRM Continental Secretariat, NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat, and consultants, is led by Amb. Dr. Inonge Lewanika APR lead panel member.

The review mission commenced with courtesy calls to County Commissioners Evans Achoki, (Narok) Irungu Macharia (Lamu), Stephen Kihara (Uasin Gishu) and representatives of various sectors including County Executive Committee Members responsible for the Big 4 Agenda and Salient Issues identified in the 2nd Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) County Review Report (CRR)

Subsequently, the team met with numerous stakeholders from Non-State actors, Ministries, Departments Agencies and ordinary citizens in the counties and engaged them through Focus Group Discussions, (FGD) to provide insights into different opinions among the different parties involved in the assessment of the Big Four, thus enabling the 4 sectors to be managed efficiently. Through the Focus Group Discussions, the citizens expressed their views regarding implementation of the Big 4, citing to have confidence amongst themselves and the government on the implementation so far. They further acknowledged the expansion of health sectors, infrastructures, and the government’s effort in identifying priority areas for investment to accelerate economic growth. Additionally, they commended the governments initiatives to curb drought and improve animal husbandry.

Later on, the teams will visit Kilifi, Kericho, Baringo, Mombasa, Kilifi, Kisii, Samburu, Taita Taveta, Migori, Nyandarua, Machakos, Kisumu, Nakuru, Garissa, Bungoma, Embu, Kitui, Meru, Isiolo, Kakamega, TransNzoia, Murang’a, Kiambu, and Nairobi counties to evaluate the progress of the Big Four Agenda.

At the end of the review the teams will meet with His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta at state house to submit the report which will then be tabled at the African Union Summit during the next Assembly of Heads of State and Government Summit in February 2022.
