APRM Continental Secretariat in collaboration with its partners, is currently undertaking a meeting on the Finalisation of the questionnaire on state resilience to shocks and disasters.  The two day meeting 29th – 30th March 2023 is being held at Golden Tulip in Nairobi, Kenya.

The meeting provides a technical platform for expert discussions, with a view to validate the APRM Questionnaire which will guide the country review and Targeted review missions, especially as member states due for review have requested to be comprehensively reviewed on the five thematic areas.

Among the key stakeholders invited are Chief, UNDRR Regional Office for Africa Mr. Amjad Abbashar, Director SEBE, AUC Mr. Harsen Nyambe, Director Operations APRM Continental Secretariat Mr. Ferdinand Katendeko, Deputy Minister of Public & Political Affairs Hon. Amara Kallon and Chief Executive Officer, NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat Amb. Dr. Samori Okwiya.

The 2 day forum will discuss among other things; Increase awareness of APRM among the Disaster risk reduction community; Streamline detailed discussions, feedback, and recommendations in the identification of the critical areas for assessment during APRM country reviews on State Resilience to shocks and disasters and Ensure alignment of APRM Questionnaire on State Resilience with global and continental frameworks on DRR, Secure commitment of APRM partners for their increased participation in country review missions; and , Jointly discuss areas for further collaboration in the implementation of projects of common interest within the overall AU agenda on Disaster risk reduction.

At the end of the meeting, it is expected that the questionnaire on state resilience to shocks and disasters  will lead to two main outcomes.

The first is the draft Questionnaire as a compilation of all the reviewed key focus areas, objectives and indicators emanating from experts; and Secondly, the Communiqué emerging from the Finalisation meeting which will strengthen commitment for collaboration and cooperation between APRM and its partners on projects of common interests.
