Officers from the NEPAD / APRM Kenya Secretariat, led by Amb. Dr. Samori Okwiya planted 50 tree seedlings in Shanzu Mombasa.
This initiative is in furtherance to the President of The Republic of Kenya, His Excellency President William Ruto’s commitment to plant 15 billion tree seedlings by 2032 to realise forest restoration and to tackle the effects of climate change.
The tree planting session was undertaken on the side-lines of the Secretariat workshop to prepare strategies of mainstreaming South-South and Triangular Cooperation into the Secretariat Plans, as well as coordinate the alignment of policies and plans to Agenda 2063 and expansion of the Secretariat mandate on Open Governance Platform (OGP) that was being prepared in Pride Inn Flamingo.
The tree planting initiative is a segment of the Secretariats Corporate Social Responsibility for the FY 2023/2024
