NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat is currently undertaking an induction workshop of the newly appointed National Governing Council. The three-day induction activity that commenced on 5th December 2023 is set to conclude on 7th December 2023 following an intense exercise spear headed by the Kenya School of Government. The exercise follows the appointment of the Council by the President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. William Samoei Ruto, through a Gazette Notice No. 13096 of 2023.

Among the newly appointed members are : Mr. Francis Habara Moroto, Ms. Jane Wanjiku Macharia, Mr. Habon Billow Farah, Mr. Joseph Kimutai Boit and Ms. Ruciana Makasi Mitau and alternates of Principal Secretaries in State Department for Economic Planning and State Department for Foreign Affairs Mr. Benson Kimani and Ms. Peninah Mukami respectively.
The induction activity marks a significant milestone in the Secretariat’s mission to foster sustainable development and good governance across the country and the continent. The induction activity is facilitated by the Kenya School of Government.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer, Amb. Dr. Samori Okwiya welcomed the Board Members and introduced them to the Secretariat’s staff present. He stated that the induction was essential to the operations of the Secretariat and sets precedence for good corporate governance as envisioned by the Constitution of Kenya of 2010. Further, the Secretary to the Council observed that the National Governing Council was a new composition and the induction was timely.
The induction exercise is scheduled to conclude after three days marked by introduction of County Peer Review Mechanism Panel of Eminent Persons to the National Governing Council. The induction activity marks the beginning of a new chapter for NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat, signalling a renewed commitment to advancing the Secretariat’s mission and contributing to good governance and sustainable development.
