Administratively, the Secretariat is headed by the National Governing Council for policy direction. The National Governing Council (NGC) draws its members from various government ministries: The National Treasury, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), and Ministry of Devolution and ASALs. The Council plays an oversight role to the Secretariat.
The Chief Executive Officer is in charge of day-to-day operations of the Secretariat within its mandate. The CEO reports to the NGC.
The Secretariat has three key directorates:
- NEPAD Programmes
- APRM and Governance
- Corporate Services
NEPAD Programmes Directorate is responsible for spearheading the implementation of projects within NEPAD Kenya’s six thematic areas.
APRM is tasked with implementing projects on country reviews, county reviews, and governance indices.
Corporate Services Department tasked with the provision of corporate services and oversees the administrative aspects of the Secretariat.
