The NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat has kicked off capacity-building and sensitization on African Union, Agenda 2063, engaging officials from Meru, Kitui, Nairobi, Mandera, Samburu, Isiolo, and Marsabit Counties. This effort aims to enhance integration and alignment of the African Union strategic framework with national and county development priorities. This is in line with the Secretariat’s broader objective of domesticating, localizing and championing the implementation of the African Union development agenda.
The primary objectives of the workshop is to create awareness and understanding of Agenda 2063 among county officials, to enhance implementation and reporting on the Agenda 2063.
Dr. Rose Kitur, Director of NEPAD Programmes in the Secretariat opened the workshop by underscoring the importance of collective action and collaboration in achieving Agenda 2063. She highlighted that aligning national priorities with continental aspirations is vital for progress towards the envisioned Africa by 2063. The workshop included with interactive sessions where participants engage in discussions and strategic planning exercises aimed at integrating Agenda 2063 into county development plans.
