In an effort to enhance awareness and understanding of the African Union Agenda 2063, the NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat, in collaboration with State Department of Economic Planning, is conducting capacity building and dissemination sessions for county officials from Nakuru, Homa Bay and Bomet counties.
The training, held in Naivasha, brought together Directors from the participating counties to address strategies to operationalize the agenda 2063 within devolved functions and allocate resources within County Integrated Development Plans (CIDPs) to implement actionable programs and policies.
Dr. Rose Kitur, Director, NEPAD Programmes, emphasized the significance of civic engagement and the pivotal role county governments play in realizing the continent vision. “This training is crucial as it empowers county officials to understand their responsibilities and actively contribute to a development agenda that will benefit not just their counties, but the entire nation,” she stated.

Participants engaged in interactive discussions, brainstorming innovative approaches to implement the key pillars of Agenda 2063, which include inclusive economic growth, social development, and environmental sustainability within their county plans.
The NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat plans to extend similar training sessions to additional counties in the coming months. This initiative aims to cultivate a network of informed and empowered county officials dedicated to the principles of Agenda 2063. As Kenya aligns itself with the broader African context, these efforts are essential for advancing the aspirations for peace, prosperity, and sustainable development, contributing to accelerated implementation of the AU Agenda 2063
