Counties play a critical role in the implementation of African Union’s Agenda 2063, this has been emphasised today during the dissemination and capacity-building workshop, aimed at enhancing awareness and understanding of the African Union’s Agenda 2063. The workshop held in Mombasa County brought together County Executive Committee Members, (CECMs ),Chief Officers and Directors from Kwale and Taita Taveta Counties.

Agenda 2063 serves as a strategic framework for the socio-economic transformation of the continent, aiming to achieve inclusive growth and sustainable development across Africa. The initiative underscores the critical importance of local leadership in advancing the continent’s development agenda.

During the workshop, the county officials were equipped with essential tools and knowledge to align their county development plans with the objectives of Agenda 2063. “The success of Agenda 2063 depends on effective local implementation,” remarked Dr. Rose Kitur, Director of NEPAD Programmes.

The NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat is committed to empowering local leaders, fostering strategic partnerships, and ensuring that the aspirations of all Africans are realized through local governance and development initiatives. By building capacity at the county level, the Secretariat aims to create a foundation for achieving the transformative goals outlined in Agenda 2063, ultimately paving the way for a prosperous and united Africa.
